What's Coming Up in July

What’s coming up on Newcastle Family History Society Podcasts?

On the 5^th of July, Benita Parker from the West Wallsend District Heritage Group brings us another episode in the popular Westy Women series. In Part One, through first-person storytelling Benita introduces Ida Viola Moorehouse Bohle. From her arrival in West Wallsend as a young teacher in 1926 to a life spanning more than seventy years in the community, Ida’s story is one of dedication, resilience, and enduring connection.

Then, on the 12th of July, Part Two continues Ida’s remarkable journey. Through the hardships of the Depression and the changing face of the town, we discover a life rich in community, music, family, and resilience—a life filled with both joy and sorrow, and one truly well lived.

Finally, on the 19^th of July, in our Notable Novocastrians series, Society member Dr Jude Conway brings to life the stories of two extraordinary Newcastle women, Alice Ferguson and Hazel Evans, whose talent, generosity, and commitment to their community left a lasting legacy in the city they loved.
